Dr R D J Lyons (Colonel R.A.M.C. - Retired)

This is an unsolicited recommendation in respect of James of Wildwood Bespoke Carpentry.

Following a commission for ‘fitted wardrobes’ to our bedroom, the aforesaid items were fitted over the course of the last 4 days (together with other miscellaneous items). The work in all respects was excellent and I refrain from the numerous superlatives I could use.

Having had a home in Spain for the last several years we have used a number of ‘so-called carpenters’ in the past, and I can only comment that my father, who was a Master Builder and Carpenter, would be spinning in his grave.

Not only was James’ work of the highest order and quality, not fitted wardrobes but rather ‘wardrobes that fit’, but James made the entire process stress free. No item was a problem, nothing was a crisis - he was a pleasure to have around the cottage.

In closing I would praise James in the highest terms and recommend him to anyone looking to employ a professional, perfectionist, carpenter. We shall be using him again.

For reference, and to confirm the above, please ask James for my contact details.

I wanted a handmade kitchen built and picked James from his advert in the paper. What a lucky choice he was considering the number of "cowboys" out there! He built me a hand carved, antique oak effect kitchen to the highest standard and I cannot tell you how pleased I am.

When I needed a new front door and surround to let more light in, of course James did it in the traditional Spanish style with a beautiful finish.

He designed both the kitchen and door after discussions with me. If you want unique, top quality work then I cannot recommend James highly enough and if you would like to see his work in my house, James will arrange it.

Over the last two years James has made our house look beautiful, and different, with handcrafted items.

Outside, on our tower, he has fitted solid wood Andalucian-style shutters and stylish window-boxes under all the windows. Inside, he had the difficult job of constructing display shelves within the tower, which is not completely round so every one of the shelves is different in its curves. The result is a stunning display of antique plates.

James also copied a 15th century oak chest to make a television stand, reproducing the lovely carving.

In the bedroom he dismantled a walk-in wardrobe which was impractical, and made fitted wardrobes instead. But the best is the bedroom suite - headboard, side cupboards and chest of drawers, all in carved solid wood - much admired.

Apart from being an excellent craftsman, James is great company and recently has been joined in his work by his charming partner Laura - so we look forward to having work done around the house.

We highly recommend Wildwood Joinery and invite inspection of the work any time.
